Creative writing and storytelling workshops for writers
Saturday 02 & Sunday 03 July | 2 – 3.30 pm & 4 – 5.30 pm
Maker Unknown offers creative writing and storytelling workshops open to everybody (16 and over) as part of the online exhibition Maker Unknown in response to the UAL’s Camberwell collection of Non-European objects. These 90-minute workshops will be delivered online on Zoom by storyteller and writer Vayu Naidu or Bharatanatyam artist and actor Shane Shambhu, alongside visual artist and researcher Deniz Sözen.
The workshops have been designed for people wishing to creatively and critically engage with the history of objects that embody the history of the British empire, such as a textile elephant or a sari fabric from India and explore creative strategies of responding to ‘archival silences’. Together with elements of storytelling through movement, creative writing and storytelling, the workshops aim to inspire a truly cultural experience, delivered by a team of experienced artists and educators. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to share their short stories and publish them as part of the multilingual online exhibition Maker Unknown launching in July 2022.
The July workshops have been designed for aspiring writers, artists, theatre makers, dramaturges and playwrights
